Group Leader

As the assigned group Leader, there were many factors that I had to consider so that the webinar our group hosted would be a success. This page shows what I did and how I contributed to the success of the group.

Communication and Coordination

In order for the webinar to be a success, the group leader communicated and coordinated with Engr. Marites Olesco, who is the course professor as well as the Electrical Engineering Department Head. The group leader communicated with her regarding questions on what the group should do, how they should do it, when they should do it, and other factors that were crucial for the webinar. Without this, many things could have gone wrong, or worse: the webinar could have never happened.

Of course, the group leader was also in charge of communicating with and inviting Engr. Ricardo Cleofe, who would later on be the Speaker for the webinar. He coordinated with the speaker with regards to when the said speaker would be free, what topic he would discuss, how much time he would want to have for his topic, the activity that the students will be given, and other matters.

Letter of Invitation to Speaker

In order to formally invited the speaker, the letter of Invitation was prepared by thr group leader signed by himself and to be signed by the course professor and department head.

It was sent via email to the Electrical Engineering Department as well as Engr. Marites E. Olesco. This was then edited and sent to the speaker by the Electrical Engineering Department.

After the webinar, an evaluation form was also sent to the attendees reminding them to answer said form in order to receive the certificates of participation. A day after, another email was send containing the the said webinar certificates.

Assigning of tasks to group members

To ensure the cooperation and participation of each group member, the leader assigned specific tasks to every individual taking into account the skills and strengths that they have already shown. The members agreed to what they have been assigned to and because it is their strength, they were able to participate and give their best contribution for the group.

Creating of Timeline and specifics on what to do before, during , and after the webinar

After assigning tasks to each group member, the leader then went on to discuss what they would do in their assigned task before, during, and after the webinar. He also proposed that there be a Plan A and Plan B for these designation of tasks DURING the webinar so as to ensure that the program would proceed even if an unexpected technical difficulty occurs for a certain individual.

He also discussed the timeline of their webinar and what must be done at specific dates at specific times.

Being the only one who can use photoshop with adequate skill, the leader took it upon himself to be the one to design the commemorative shirt that will be given as part of the token of gratitude for the speaker.

Fabricating idea for mock webinars

Incorporating the idea of "practice makes perfect", the group leader suggested to the group that they have a mock webinar 2 days before the actual webinar so as to adress any issues or problems that may come during the event. The group members agreed and as a result, decided to hold another mock webinar due to the result of the first webinar. Because of this, the group became more ready and ready to adapt to changes for the actual webinar.

Overall head for the webinar

Of course, being the Group Leader, the group members had to coordinate with him and ask for his feedback and comments on what they had done and what they can do to improve it. The group leader then checks their work and when they are good enough for his high standards, they are approved.
